TV taken. Armed response attended. Suspects were driving a blue car (unconfirmed: possibly an old Mazda). They were pursued and but got away.

Attempted House Break-in

High Cape Avenue – Thursday, 18:00 – 00:00
Resident was woken at about 20.50 with voices on his balcony and a loud noise. The front door had been crow barred as confirmed by CBAR official. Security gate had been popped out. Upstairs neighbor tried to warn resident and he must have disturbed the perpetrators by shouting at them. 3 men jumped over the balcony and got into what the neighbour thought was a silver Opel Astra or Kadett and sped down High Cape Avenue about 20:45. All 3 men appeared to be wearing balaclavas

Upper Mill Street – Thursday, 06:00 – 18:00
A man cornered a resident in one of the cul de sacs off Upper Mill Street and punched her in her face. A person matching the description was reported to have chased someone with a stick in Deer Park. The suspect was found by DPV members. He was taken to SAPS and two cases were opened.

Resident was in vehicle waiting to pick up a colleague for work. An arm reached in through through the open crack in the window on the drivers side and tried to take phone out her hand. She shouted and suspect walked away from the car, down Luton, towards Jutland side. He was seen again on the back of a bakkie with gardening / construction tools in it.

Rear right window smashed. Someone entered the vehicle and went through cubby hole and under seats. Papers from cubby hole were strewn all over car. Attempted theft of spare wheel.

A Weber braai, that was chained to the outside of a fence, was removed. The suspect was questioned by a resident when seen walking with the Weber towards Chelmsford Road. Weber was retrieved.

Unknown persons broke/attempted to cut electrical power cable to property. Resident logged fault with the City without knowing the cause of their loss of electricity. City team arrived at 04.00 am and while they were busy checking for the source of problem, someone got into one of their bakkies but was chased away by them.

Two men gained access to front courtyard of property due to door to road left open. They fled when they realised the resident had become aware of them.

Suspect pretended to be waiting for neighbour’s arrival to quote on a repair. He asked for pen and paper to leave a note for the neighbour and picked up cellphone when resident went the fetch it.

The property’s burglar alarm activated when an intruder derailed the front gate to gain access to the property. He fled when he was disturbed by the resident.

Two men on a scooter tried to rob a woman and drove off when she screamed. The abandoned scooter was later found by DPV members and handed over to SAPS.

Two garden taps were stolen early in the morning. ADT and SAPS responded. Culprit arrested. A tap from St James Place’s garden was also retrieved.

Domestic worker was robbed. The perpetrator was later apprehended by SAPS and found to have a knife in his possession.

A man and a woman, armed with a switch-blade type knife with wooden handle robbed pedestrian. Mobile phone taken.

Elderly person was accosted outside apartment by two men. He was thrown to the ground and his clothing was searched and items removed by assailants.

To gain access two vibracrete slabs from the rear perimeter fencing were removed. The house’s alarm activated when a window was broken. Nothing was taken as the intruders then left the scene.

The residents were woken by someone ripping the piping off on the side of their property. Plastic piping was taken.
