A blue VW Citi Golf, registation CFM 1832, was stolen.
It is possible that three male occupants of a Mini Cooper were involved in the theft.

A spare wheel was stolen from a resident’s 4x4. The theft appeared to be done professionally - the security lock was broken off the bumper.

Access was gained to the house via a window that was closed but not locked. A laptop was stolen.

Theft of car parts - ARREST

Chelsea Avenue - Tuesday at 04:30
A resident heard a bang outside her window and looked out to investigate. She saw two men hiding in the bushes below. She got onto her DPVwatch radio and alerted SAPS who were there within minutes. SAPS arrested the two men who had been in the process of removing the wheels from a Toyota that was parked on the road. THey had already stolen two wheels and rolled them down to the KFC and were returning for the other two. They told SAPS that they had a buyer waiting at the KFC but no buyer or accomplices could be found. All wheels were returned and an arrest made - well done to an alert member who took action!

Attempted theft from property - ARREST

Capel Road - Monday at 15:30
SAPS were in the vicinity when a house alarm went off in Capel Street. On arriving at the property they found the motorised driveway gate had been lifted off its track and was standing 2/3 open. A coloured male and a black male, were on the property. They were driving a white Toyota Conquest. Their story varied from: they were responding to an advertisement on Gumtree for a trailer, to: they drove past and saw the gate was opened so wanted to tell the owners, to: they were on another property and saw intruders so came to have a look … CBar were also there within minutes and checked the property, but it did not appear that access had been gained to the house. Suspects were taken to the police station for profiling/fingerprinting.

Vredehoek Avenue - Monday between 19.00 and 13.00
A white Nissan 2.5 ton double cab, registration CEM 27912 was stolen.
Reported to SAPS.

Intruders - ARREST

Noordelik - Sunday at 11:15
Two black males were reported acting suspiciously next to a building site. One of the males then jumped over the wall but DPV members were on the scene immediately as they were being updated by a member in a house next door. One suspect was held outside the premises, while a member climbed along the wall where he spotted the 2nd suspect in the property. When confronted the suspect jumped over the wall and fled down towards De Waal Drive. He was chased by the member on foot and eventually apprehended just behind the Cape Technicon. Both suspects were handed over to SAPS.

Chelsea Ave - Sunday at 19:10
A tall young coloured man was walking down Chelsea Avenue carrying a large industrial power drill in its box and a metal lever in his right hand. The Resident who saw him, followed him in her vehicle and called for backup on her DPV radio. About 5 DPV watch members responed fast enough to catch the suspect at the fire station in Roeland Street. Suspect tried all sorts of explanations but was later picked up by the SAPS vehicle charged with posession of stolen property.

The suspects jumped over the gate at the side of the property. They then removed a window to gain access to the house. They stole a laptop, jewellery and a camera. No fingerprints are left at the scene.

A man came up behind a women walking on the road. He grabbed her bag and ran away. No descriptions available.

A women broke into the school property. She used a knife to force the security gate. It is not known how she opened the classroom doors. She stole a wall clock, blankets, tape recorder and money. The incident was captured on the security cameras and leads are being followed up.

Corner Bradwell and Florida - Monday
Car broken into and the CD front loader was stolen. Well done to SAPS who arrested the culprit after some excellent patrolling. Sadly he had already stashed the radio so that was not recovered but he was witnessed in the act.

One of the windows in the house was smashed with a brick to gain access. A laptop and a Macbook was stolen.

Two smartly dressed black men jumped over the property wall. The residents woke up to this and shouted at the men who then ran away. It is thought that there was at least another suspect on the road as the alarm went off at the same time on a neighbouring property.
