Suspect broke the lock of a security gate and climbed through a small ornate window without burglar bars (which is located above a larger ornate window with burglar bars). He was caught by the tenant and a worker on the property, in possession of house breaking implements and knives. Numerous items, including a Macbook, were recovered. SAPS arrived to arrest the suspect.

Access to the property was gained from the mountain side, and then through a security gate into the main bedroom. Clothing, electronics and a safe containing jewelry and money were stolen. The suspects were disturbed by my son coming home as they left the TV behind. The house alarm was armed and active.

A second flat, across from the other flat that had been broken into, was accessed by kicking the front door open. It happened during the same time and presumably after the neighbour’s domestic worker left at 11:10. A television was taken. Other stolen items were not confirmed.

Vredehoek Avenue - Friday, between 11:30 and 13:10
The wooden front door of a flat was kicked open, damaging the door and the flat was ransacked. A second, locked door inside the flat was also kicked open. A television was among the items taken. The domestic worker had left at 11:30 and the security guard at the school across the road didn’t notice anything out of place. DPV Patrollers and ADT were on the scene within minutes and SAPS arrived within 10 minutes.

A worker from Trafalgar (Streetscapes vegetable garden) successfully stopped a robbery by the Trafalgar walking bridge crossing Philip Kgosana. A woman had been held up by a man carrying a knife. The worker wrestled a knife from a man and SAPS arrived to arrest the suspect.
