Robbery - street mugging - ARREST

Deer Park - Monday, at about 16:40
Two women were walking in Deer Park when they were held up by two males who threatened them with a knife. The suspects stole a camera, cellphone and wallet and escaped back onto the mountain.

DPVwatch members tracked the suspects movements according to eye witness reports until they were eventually apprehended on the mountain above Molteno Road. One suspect was in posession of the camera. Both suspects were positively identified by the victims and arrested by SAPS.

A blue Fiat Uno CA 34149 was stolen.

A white VW Golf had it’s window broken and the spare tyre and battery were stolen.

Scam alert

Aandblom Road - Monday
Resident in Upper Aandbloem received call from male claiming to be husband of neighbour’s domestic worker, claiming she had died of heart attack. He wanted money for the church service for Sunday. The neighbour refused. Later there was another call from same number but he refused to answer. Finally managed to get hold of domestic worker who said there’s a scam doing the rounds.

Robbery - Street Mugging

Vredehoek Avenue - Saturday, at about 18:10
A resident was taking items out of his car boot when three men approached him and asked for a cigarette. He said he did not have one and one of them grabbed him by the neck and held him while the other two rifled through the boot and vehicle. The suspects fled on foot.
Perfume, a power bank, car charger, laptop, toiletry bag, bank cards and clothing were taken.

Attempted theft from property

Highlands Avenue - Friday, at about 22:00
Access was gained through the security gate to a block of flats. A resident who was sleeping heard someone break through the security gate and as they were trying to break open the door she banged the door from the inside. A neighbour also shouted and the suspect/s fled the building, leaving the area in a vehicle.

Chelsea Avenue - Friday, at about 14:50
As a resident was driving into her garage she was over-powered by three smartly dressed males. The took her inside and demanded to know where all her valuables were. She was tied up while the suspects collected electronics and clothing, eventually fleeing in the victims silver VW Vivo. The vehicle was recovered a little later in Langa.

Upper Mill Street - Friday, at about 18:30
A female resident arrived home and had some trouble unlocking her gate.
Two men approached and pushed her up against her gate. One asked for her phone and the other one searched her pockets. They ran away with a phone and a wallet. The empty wallet was later found discarded.

Robbery - street mugging - ARREST

Rugley Road - Wednesday, at about 18:15
A lady was leaving her place of work when three males approached her and threatened her with a knife. They stole her handbag and fled the area. Members were notified via the radio network and a suspect was eventually seen in Roeland Street. When approached by members he dropped the handbag and fled and was eventually apprehended and arrested by SAPS close to the Parade.

St James Street - Wednesday, between 19:00 - 08:00
Entry was gained to a white Toyota Tazz during the night and the spare wheel, battery and all four wheels were stolen off the vehicle. The vehicles jack was used to remove the wheels but it fell off during the incident and fell against the pavement.

Chelmsford Road - Wednesday, at about 23:00
A Toyota Tazz had it’s front left wheel removed. An attempt was made to remove the back left wheel but the suspect was disturbed by a resident of the flats opposite and the suspect fled down the road.

Bolted door [to the back yard] at the side of the house was forced open but the home owner could not find anything missing.

Ludlow Road - Sunday, between 06:00 and 18:00
A suspect jumped over our wall/gate and stole a pair of running shoes/takkies though our security gate via a stick from the garden, our dog surprised the person @ 08:00 in the morning as we let him out to do his business and the suspect once again jumped over the wall with the precious cargo - the running shoes/takkies.

Virginia Avenue - Friday, at about 02:00
Two men were seen by a DPV member running down Upper Mill Street in a suspicious manner. When other members went to search for them they had disappeared. They were discovered hiding in the front garden of a property and arrested by SAPS.

Robbery - street mugging - ARREST

Vredehoek Avenue - Friday, at about 22:30
A resident and a friend parked on the street. When the passenger got out of the vehicle she was approached by a man who got out of a white Audi A3. He snatched her handbag. The two suspects fled the area via Chelsea Avenue. The mobile phone that was stolen was tracked by Constantia Neighbourhood Watch and at least one suspect was arrested in Hout Bay. The Audi was also recovered and it is the same vehicle that had been hijacked a few days ago in Wynberg.

Pinoak Road - Thursday, at about 03:30
A resident woke up to noises in her back garden and saw an intruder as he jumped over her wall and out of her property. She presumed that he had come from a neighbouring property. No description of the suspect was provided.

Watsonia Street - Thursday, between 06:00 and 18:00
A resident came out of the house in the morning to find that someone had stolen the light bulb and light bulb housing from the front driver’s side indicator of a VW Beetle.

The orange plastic cover of the indicator was on the pavement, and there was an exposed wire where the indicator light bulb and light bulb housing should have been. The screws were still attached to the plastic cover. The thief was doing it carefully, perhaps with the intention of putting the cover back, but may have been spooked by someone.

A resident saw her balcony curtain moving and heard a chair fall over outside as an intruder left her premises. She screamed thereby alerting her neighbours who immediately pressed their panic button to summon their armed response company. Although the surrounding area was searched nobody was found. A cellphone and handbag was stolen.

The resident was in his house getting his children ready and the front door was open. A person entered the house through the door and stole his laptop. Unfortunately there is no description of the suspect

A briefcase was left outside a house on a stoep while the owner went inside for a few minutes. When he came back out he noticed his case had been stolen. It was a soft black leather case containing a phone, wallet and business papers.

The complainant was dropping a friend off when an old model sedan stopped and 3 males jumped out. One of them punched the complainant and the other 2 searched the complainant. They took a cellphone, car keys and a wallet. They drove off direction N2.
