Frank Avenue – Wednesday, 23:50
Intruder in front garden of property, but not close enough to trigger the outside beams. Resident heard a noise and saw a flash of light. Armed response and DPVwatch responded.

House Break-in

Gardenia Avenue – Monday, 00:00 – 06:00
A house break-in occurred some time between 15:00 on Sunday and 18:30 on Monday when residents came home. They had only moved in two days before. Suspects broke in from the Pypies side of property and left via Gardenia Avenue. Clothes and a TV were stolen as well as a music box and shoes. The suspects drank beer and left a panga behind. They also took a bunch of keys which they used to unlock the bracket on the gate motor and stole the battery.

Attempted Street Robbery - with a dangerous weapon

Pypies Plein – Sunday, 18:00 – 00:00
Between 18:00 and 19:00, a domestic worker was walking his employer’s dogs between Van Ryneveld and Pypies Plein. A man with a gun threatened him and took him into the park. Fortunately SAPS drove past at that moment and the man ran away.

A young man carrying a skateboard managed to push open a driveway gate and got into a vehicle parked on the property. It was unclear how the suspect managed to open the vehicle without breaking anyway. Nothing was stolen

A young man carrying a skateboard broke into vehicle parked in the street. It was unclear how the suspect managed to open the vehicle without breaking anything. Nothing was stolen.

Chelmsford Road – Sunday, 00:00 – 06:00
Break-in on 1st floor apartment. Access via the balcony security gate during early morning hours. Jewelry and other belongings stolen.

Left rear car window was smashed and box that was on the back seat was stolen. Access was also gained to car boot through backseat and stole belongings in boot.

Resident caught a man fiddling with the door of their vehicle and chased him away.

Attempted Murder

Buitenkant Street – Monday, 05:30
White Minibus Taxi came racing down Buitenkant street and tried to run a resident over. The resident dodged him; the taxi driver stopped and gestured at the resident with a dagger. There was a standoff with a distance of about 7m between them. The taxi proceeded to chase resident down the road. The resident managed to elude the assailant (a short, skinny young male). Bystanders noted that taxi was registered for Mitchells Plein route.

House Robbery - contact with victim

Rocklands Avenue – Saturday, 22:30
Four men, three of them armed, broke into a house and tied up residents. Items including laptop and cellphones were stolen. Excellent response from SAPS, Metro, LE and Watch members; However, suspects managed to get away.

St James street – Thursday, 20:30
2 Males, 1 short and 1 taller approached building and shook gate until the lock broke. Resident noticed them and they fled in a hurry in a grey or silver VW Polo when they realized they had been seen.

Vehicle stolen: Brown Renault.

Trespasser/Intruder

Rocklands Avenue – Wednesday, appprox 17:20
A resident saw a young person (it was unclear whether a woman or a man) with lots of bags across their back on the lawn outside their house. When challenged, the trespasser climbed over the fence to the neighbouring property, triggering the alarm. S/he was later seen behind these properties on the mountain. The resident found that their fence was damaged where entry was gained.

Attempted Street Robbery – without a weapon – ARREST

Upper Mill Street – Tuesday, 10:25
A youngster was harassed by an extremely aggressive/threatening man while walking from the Gardens Centre up Upper Mill Street. The man demanded that the teenager hand over his cell phone. A resident intervened and called CBar. Armed Response patrolmen and DPV patrollers searched for suspect who was found in Upper Buitenkant and apprehended.

Florida Avenue – Tuesday, during the morning
Garage doors at property were forced open. A silver gravel bike with black and red accent tones, black handlebars and tyres, with the name “GT Avalanche 0.5” written on the frame, was stolen.

A man wearing a car guard vest jumped over the wall of a property and stole a pair of soccer boots.

The garage door of a property was forced open. A mountain bicycle was taken.

House robbery

Frank Avenue – Saturday, approximately 21.30
A resident who was at his kitchen door was surprised by four men who pushed him into the house and threatened him with a gun. One of the assailants was armed with a bayonet-shaped object. The men tied the resident up and locked him in the bedroom. After the men had left, the resident managed to free himself and called for help. Items stolen included a revolver, HP laptop, Samsung cellphones, a black backpack, Acebeam X50 torch and car keys

Attempted House Break-in

Watsonia Street – Friday, 09:30
A man jumped over the fence of the apartment block and managed to break the magnetic lock that leads from the car park to the apartments.
He ruffled in the bins, defecated in the parking area and attempted to steal laptops / smaller items with a long stick that he weaved through an open kitchen window that opens out onto the corridor.

A motorcycle was stolen. Security camera footage shows two men arriving together on one motorbike.

Attempted Other Theft (Property) – ARREST

Exner Avenue – Tuesday, 03:21
A patroller heard a noise as he passed a property and called for assistance. Two men had broken into a garage and packed up various goods but were intercepted before they could leave the property. One was arrested and the other ran away. It was subsequently discovered that they have broken into a second (empty) garage on the property.

Exner Avenue – Friday, 00:00 – 06:00
A hired car parked on the property was broken into overnight. Theft of a laptop, and a Sony camera and lenses was discovered on the Saturday morning.

MH Goldschmidt Road – Thursday, just after midnight
Two men entered through garden gate and used a crowbar or some sort of lever to force the side door of the double garage. They spent about 45 minutes in the garage and left with two sacks full of items such as tools. Drills, sanders etc
