Attempted Theft from Property

Pinetree Crescent, Saturday at 03:30
Residents were woken by burglar alarm activation at 03:30 (external beams, mountain side of property in private garden). Windy night. Upon scanning the backyard for a number of minutes nothing was seen and private security was told to stand down. The next morning (about 09:00) a pocket-knife, screwdriver and wire hook were found in the back yard. A mop was also found propped against a security beam in the back external walled-in kitchen yard, presumably to cover the beam. No access was gained and no property was damaged. Speculation is that the intruders were alarmed by the lights and torches and managed to disappear without being seen. At least two walls (both over 2m, no spikes) and two fences (2m with spikes, 2.5m with spikes) were cleared by the intruders. The neighbouring property garden security beam was also activated a few minutes after the initial activation, possibly during the intruder exit/retreat.

Theft from Property

Frank Avenue, Wednesday between 00:00 and 07:00
An aluminium kitchen window was removed. An interleading locked door through to the lounge was unlocked! (key found in lock but on “wrong” side; maybe burglars used the “Famous Five” paper-under-door-and-push-key-out-and-pull-paper-through trick?). A flat screen TV, DVD player, 2 speakers and a large loose carpet were taken, as well as a bed-sheet. The burglars gained access to the property via the neighbour’s property. The fence was cut and a garden chair placed on our side for convenient egress. The neighbour’s property has no perimeter fencing and has easy access to Frank Ave. It would therefore seem that a car was used for a get away. Resident was asleep upstairs at the time, and a dog asleep downstairs outside the lounge!
