A resident was woken up by a loud noise downstairs and went to investigate. He turned on all the lights and saw the toilet seat lying on the bathroom floor and that two of my security bars had been bent outwards and the window pane removed. The suspect had already fled the area and SAPS was unable to find anyone.

A resident woke up to find that a suspect had gained entry to her apartment. She screamed and alerted neighbours, armed response and SAPS. Members assisted but the suspect fled the scene.

Mugging

Crassula Avenue - Wednesday, at about 00:20
A couple were walking home from the Shack along Roeland street, just after the fire station and slip road, when they became aware of some one behind them. They turned around and saw two colored males who were obviously intending to mug them. They started running, one grabbed the ladies handbag strap and pulled her down and along the pavement until the handbag strap snapped. She then had chance to get up and run away again. They followed the couple for a little way but think turned around as they got close to the houses. The suspects were young and skinny and one was short and the other taller. They threatened to stab the complainants but no weapon was seen and nothing was stolen.

Residents woke and saw two men attempting to gain entry to their back door. When they realised they had been seen they fled the area. SAPS was notified and searched the surrounding area.

During the night access was gained to the upstairs balcony of the house. It appears that the suspects used the neighbours wall to climb up. A mountain bike was stolen.

Crassula Avenue - Thursday, between 21:40 and 23:30
A vehicles window was left slightly open and unknown suspects used this to gain entry to the vehicle. Two bags were stolen, one bag was a dark grey and white 2014 Soccer World Cup promo bag which had a Lowpro Gopro bag with a Gopro 3+ Camera and Gopro accessories (LCD Screen, wifi remote and other Gopro connections cable and adapters) inside. The other bag which was a red and grey virgin active promo bag that had gymnastic clothing and equipment (3 pairs of leather gymnastic grips, a red and black elastic training band , a pair of white and green Asics running shoes and a pair of ankle weights) inside. Some of the clothing was recovered across the road the following day.

An unknown African man gained access to a house by removing a glass pane from the back door and opening the security gate from inside. The man entered a bedroom while the resident was in the room and locked the door. He told her to stay quiet as he has a gun, however no weapon could be seen as he was held his hand behind his back. The suspect demanded cash or valuables but when the complainant screamed the suspect ran out of the bedroom and escaped via the backdoor.
