Escombe Road - Thursday at 01:00
A Toyota Tazz had previously been been identified as being involved in early morning house break ins in our area. It was also identified by an eyewitness at an attempted house break in on Bradwell Road. The vehicle was loaded onto the LPR Database as a Level 1 vehicle. The vehicle entered the area past the Buitenkant Camera and an alert immediately went out to registered patrollers. They responded and searched the area for the vehicle and it was found in Escombe Road. SAPS stopped the vehicle. A massive amount of house break in implements were found in the vehicle. Three men were arrested.

The residents were awoken to the sound of a rock being thrown through a window. They locked themselves into the bathroom while the suspects stole from the house.

A man was walking down the road when two coloured men grabbed the bag he was carrying. He managed to hold onto the bag and the assailants jumped over a fence and onto the school property. The complainant flagged down a passing vehicle to try and give chase. DPV patrollers also joined the search but the suspects were not found. One of the men was stocky and had a bald head, the other was wearing a beige top.

The back door to the house was opened and a DPVwatch radio, Ipad and radio was stolen.
The DPVwatch radio was confiscated on the station deck by private security after a man tried to sell it to them. Unfortunately the man was not arrested by the radio recovered and returned to the owner.

The resident went to bed with the front door slightly open (security gate was locked) and the alarm not activated. When he woke in the morning he discovered that intruders had been in the property and stole a watch, Iphone, Laptop and flat screen TV. It appears they came in through the front door and left it wide open when they left.

A rented car was parked on the road with a lot of belongings left inside it. The car was broken into and a GPS and other items stolen. It appears that the suspects were disturbed as other valuables were left behind.

The home owner was away and returned home at about 06h15 and discovered she had been burgled during the night. Entry was gained by forcing open a window, there appeared to be no burglar bars or alarm system as the burglars spent a long time in the house. “They” carefully selected quite a few bottles of alcohol and a laptop, 2 cell phones and jewellery was stolen. Items were carried away in a red suitcase which was also stolen. “They” entered and exited the fenced complex from the mountain by climbing over the fence.

A resident was walking on St James past the MyCiti bus stop when two men jumped out at him. They threatened him with a knife and stole his cellphone. The manager of the Spar and a contractor there tried to help the resident chase the suspects but the got away.

This is the third time the house has been broken into. The suspect broke the upstairs window and stolen the baby/nappy bag and the car keys.
The identity of the suspect was known to DPVwatch members. He was arrested on Monday night by DPVwatch members and handed over to SAPS.

Plantation Road - Sunday at 03:30
The same house that was broken into on Saturday morning was again hit. This time two suspects stolen the TV. A patroller saw the suspects acting suspiciously, at that stage did not realise they had broken in and monitored them. He followed them to Arum Street where they stole a wheelie bin and put the stolen TV that they had been concealing into the bin. SAPS were alerted and the patroller and SAPS stopped the suspects. One of them managed to get away but the second one was arrested.
