The front security gate to the block of flats was forced open. The front door to the flat was then bashed in. A flat screen TV was stolen. The armed response company arrived within 7 minutes but the suspect(s) were gone.

The resident is currently away out of the country so it is not know when the theft occurred exactly. However one of the windows from the property was removed and a TV and safe was stolen from the house.

Access was gained to the flat by breaking the kitchen window. Jewellery and a laptop/computer equipment was stolen.

The resident went to sleep and the house was secure but when they woke up realized that a laptop, handbag and a phone had been stolen. On investigation they discovered a hole in the fence leading onto the mountain and that the sliding door had been left unlocked.

Saddle Road - sometime between 25th and 27th October.
The property is currently undergoing renovation. The suspects stole about 2kg of copper pipes and valves from the geyser. They clearly took their time and sorted through what they wanted to take. They even sealed off the open pipes.

The sliding door to the house was closed but unlocked so the suspect was able to enter. Most valuables were in the rooms with the residents so the suspect only stolen a dictaphone.

The resident returned home and could not get into his flat as it was locked from the inside. He heard noises inside. When he got inside the suspect had left but had stolen his laptop.

The suspects took two ladders from a neighbours property and used them to access the first floor of the house. They forced open the balcony door which triggered the alarm and the suspects fled.

Aandbloem - Friday around 06:00
A resident was coming home when she was approached by two men who threatened her and grabbed her bag. Other residents were awoken by her screams and tried to chase after the suspects but they got away.

A resident saw men tampering with his car and the next morning saw that they tried to steal the wheels of the car. The suspects are thought to be four black men in an old Toyota Conquest.

All four hubcaps were stolen from the parked car.

Yeoville Road - Wednesday during the early hours of the morning
The front window on the car was broken and a green bag, stationery and sunglasses were stolen.

Theft from property - ARREST

St James - Tuesday around 11:30
A resident was in her flat and heard 3 big bangs and went up to investigate. In the stairwell there was a guy with a screwdriver and he said something fell but everything was ok. The resident thought he may be the new neighbour so went up the stairs with him. There she saw that the door was damaged and off but the suspect said to her that it had just fallen off. Immediately she knew there was a problem but did not want to spook the suspect. So she smiled at him, wished him well and went back to her flat and locked the door. She then called CBAR and SAPS who came there within minutes. They raced into the building and went straight upstairs and arrested the man who was in possession of the screwdriver, crowbar and all the stolen property (laptop, camera, GPS etc)
It is believed that he had a pick up vehicle waiting around to pick him up and eye witnesses report seeing a white Opel Corsa Bakkie in the area acting very suspiciously.
Well done to a very alert resident who went ti investigate instead of ignoring! A model citizen!

Davenport Road - Tuesday around 07:00
The residents left home at 06:50 and at 07:00 the alarm was triggered and CBAR responded. The suspects had jumped over a high wall and break into the laundry where they stole some clothing and a beer. They then broke open a bathroom window and got into the house which triggered the alarm. They were only able to get away with 1 laptop.
The clothing was found dumped at the building site next door.

Clovelly - Tuesday ar 16:40
The home owner was busy working around the house and the side door and gate was open. The suspect walked down the alley way on the side of the house and got inside. He stole the contents of the wallet and a laptop. The homeowner saw him leaving in the alley and man said he was deaf and was selling sign language books. At this point the resident did not realize the theft had occurred and told the man to go away.
The suspect is a tall average build black male. He was wearing a ark cap and a dark hooded top with a check pattern carrying a blue backpack. It is believed that he is not deaf as he claims to be as he heard the resident calling him as he was walking away.

It appears that the suspects jumped over the wall from High Cape at the back of the property and forced open the back door. They stole a laptop and 2 cellphones.

The car was broken into by the suspect inserting a screwdriver under the handle to break the lock. Once inside the car the suspect stolen the front loader and the speakers. The wiring to the battery was also tampered with.

The door to the flat was forced open possibly with a crowbar. It is not known how access was gained into the building but it is thought that the main security gate was left open. A large number of items was stolen including a Flat screen Tv.

A resident returned from the gym and was in the garage of his house when he was approached by a coloured man who threatened him with a gun. The man stole the car keys, some bank cards and R40 cash.

The bathroom window to the flat was forced open. Items stolen include an ID book and an external hard drive.

Mugging - ARREST

Upper Buitenkant Street - Monday at 21:30
DPVwatch patrollers had been monitoring a red BMW that was parked on Upper Buitenkant Street outside the 7-Eleven. The vehicle had 3 coloured men in it and it was parked with the engine running for over an hour. The patrollers had an uneasy feeling about the occupants and were waiting for SAPS to return from an arrest at the station so the vehicle could be searched. The patrollers witnessed a man leaving the restaurant on Buitenkant Street and walking along up the road. They say two occupants get out of the BMW and follow him up the road where they threatened him and stole his bag containing his laptop. They raised back to the BMW and tried to drive away. Because of the large amount of patrollers who were out and close by they were able to block the cars exit route and prevent them from getting away with the stolen goods. CBAR, ADT and SAPS arrived very quickly and an arrest was made. Another night of heroes from DPVwatch!!!!
