A resident was out walking and saw two men stealing a number of metal drain covers on the road. He asked them what they were doing and they pretended to be council employees. He called a radio holder who put the alert out on the radio and other members came to assist. The suspects had by now got into their vehicle; when the members called SAPS to assist the vehicle sped off and tried to get away. SAPS stopped them on Buitenkant Street and searched the vehicle - a green Toyota Venture CA 182 457. A large number of stolen and displaced metal drain covers were discovered. Theft from Property

Deer Park Drive, Wednesday between 14:15 and 14:45.
A pram was stolen from the property. It had been left inside the perimeter fencing next to the house. In the time that the pram disappeared, a Telkom technician arrived to sort out a problem with the land line. It is not clear whether he had anything to do with the theft, or whether an unknown person climbed over the fence. The technician asked to see the back of the property and gave the garden a good look before getting to work (the resident thought it was odd as it was not relevant to the required repairwork). He left at approximately 14:35 and appeared to close the gate properly. Ten minutes later, she found the pram missing and its contents (blanket, school bag, dummy, clothing etc) had been thrown over the fence, apparently from where the Telkom vehicle had been parked. The pram is of little value, having been bought off Gumtree for a small amount.
This incident has not been reported to SAPS.

Theft from Property

Access was gained to the property from the road by climbing over front wall. Footmarks left by burglars. They proceeded up the left side of the house and removed the aluminium frames holding the glass in place from a pane that cannot open and is therefore not linked to a magnetic sensor. The alarm system therefore did not activate and the robbers moved around freely on the ground floor of the house while the occupants slept upstairs.

Electronic devices were stolen, including: TV, laptops, iPads, cameras, PC, handbag, purses, cash. Credit cards were left.

The robbery was only detected at 06h30, and noises heard were put down to other occupants moving around in the house. Nothing was suspect because the alarm had not activated and there was no reason for concern.
