Attempted hi-jacking

Saddle Road - Tuesday, at 17:30
Two men took an Uber from Hof Street to Saddle Road where they attempted to hijack the vehicle by attacking the driver with pepper spray and a knife. They couldn’t drive the vehicle because of a lock on the hand break and fled, crossing Philip Kgosana. DPV patrollers rushed to the scene and took note of the getaway vehicle parked on the other side of Philip Kgosana.

An assailant attempted to strangle a man walking home up. Residents were alerted by the man’s ongoing screaming and rushed to assist. The suspect ran towards Citivet. SAPS and other resources responded within 2 minutes.

A man climbed through the bathroom window of a flat, but fled back through the window when he was discovered in the bathroom by the owner who screamed out loud. He fled over the wall to the house next door. DPV patrollers and security were out on the streets within minutes and searched for him, but couldn’t find him.

A man smashed the window of a vehicle to reach paragliding gear on the back seat, but a DPV patroller noticed this and shouted at him. The suspect fled and disappeared as more patrollers joined to search for him.

Suspects first arrived at 21:00 (11 Feb) to cut wires to disarm the outside beams. They returned to cut the electric fence and Clearvu fencing. At 02:30 on the Wednesday morning the resident heard a bang. They had broken the glass of a window while they were trying to melt burglar bars.

A man has been caught on camera twice in one week during the day, scouting a property. He jumped onto a garage roof and then into the garden of the bottom floor flat and stayed in the garden for about 40 minutes before leaving. He returned two days later to further inspect the block of flats.

Three men broke down the security gate and a panel in the wooden back door to gain access into the house. They took a television, laptop and cell phones. A young woman was hit on the head with a piece of wood when she tried to hold on to her phone.

Suspect climbed up onto the balcony. He attempted to burn the security bars and was on the balcony when the residents woke up. The suspect fled, leaving his hat behind.

Chelmsford Road - Thursday, at 16:00
The owner’s patio key was left in her personal postbox for a neighbour to use in the afternoon to let her small dog out between 15:30 and 17:00. Someone removed the key from the postbox, opened the patio door and stole a Dell computer monitor and a small purse containing Tanzanian dollars. They also took a silver pendant. When leaving they closed the patio door and threw the key on the lawn, leaving the dog outside.

A man was noticed in a vehicle outside Alpine Court, sitting in the passenger seat, riffling through the car. Nothing was broken. When he noticed the resident he left promptly.
