A man gained access to the property from the neighbours side and walked on the roof to get to the garden. He took a toolbox and returned the same way, but realized that he had been discovered and dropped the toolbox, taking two hammers with him.

A vehicle was parked on the corner of Derry Street and Belladonna Avenue and the driver quickly ran into the KwikSpar. Fortunately she had her phone and her purse with her, because within the minutes that she was gone someone smashed the window of her vehicle and grabbed her handbag.

Silver Polo Vivo was taken from the driveway. Two men were dropped off and approached the vehicle, the one opening the bonnet and the other inside the vehicle using a tablet to start the vehicle. SAPS was informed and arrived within 3 minutes, but the thieves had already left.

Perpetrators broke down the front door to enter the house. A young woman was house sitting on her own. They took her handbag and laptop and fled.

Two young students attempted to break-in at the tuck shop at the primary school. A projector is missing from a class room. CBAR who sponsors the security became aware of their presence and call for SAPS’s assistance. They were able to apprehend an eleven old year boy. ARREST

A camera that is being monitored by Watchtower, picked up images of a man breaking into a vehicle. Security were dispatch to the scene and apprehended the suspect, but the victim did not want to open a case and the suspect was released to continue breaking into cars - nothing to add to his crime record.

Vredehoek Avenue - Wednesday, at 22:00
A young student broke into the school and spray painted a bicycle which he then hid in the tall grass on the property to remove the following day. The school is aware of this problem child.

A break-in to a flatlet at the back in the garden was reported to SAPS to investigate.

Lambert Road - Tuesday, between 08:00 and 18:00
A break-in occurred at a flat in the back garden on a property. It is difficult to reach the flat from the street front, so it is possible that the suspects came from the side from one of the neighbours. The family dog was found in the bathroom. Men’s clothing, a sleeping bag, cooler bag etc. have been taken.

A man who attempted to break into a house and then triggered the alarm, was apprehended by neighbours and CBAR and then arrested by CBAR.

A man was noticed wandering around suspiciously in the dark with his torch at a neighbouring flat on the first floor. A resident made a loud hissing sound to indicate to him that he has been spotted and he bolted.

A man was in the process of breaking into a vehicle, but was scared of by a member.

Men accessed a flat via the balcony and living room door. The resident woke up and fired a shot at them down the passage and they fled.

An attempt was made to break into flats between 02:00 and 04:00. No details available, but the perpetrators then moved on to the neighbours.

A man tampered and damaged at least 4 garage doors to try and gain access. He managed to break into one garage and take items.

Two men were hanging around in the street under the guise of bin pickers, hours after the others had left and made their way towards a vehicle parked next to bins in the street. Within seconds one broke the window of the vehicle with a large grey stone and the other grabbed a laptop from the front passenger seat.

Street Robbery - with dangerous weapon

Crassula Avenue – Monday, at 11:00
A resident was walking up Crassula Avenue when he was approached by three men from the park. One pulled a knife on him and the other tripped him from behind. When he was lying on the ground they stole his wallet, cellphone and a bag containing some electronic equipment. He was unhurt other than some bruises.

Peppertree Crescent – Saturday, approximately 7:10 am
Two men on a motorbike came into the area and stole a resident’s motorbike. They were seen and followed on to Philip Kgosana Drive. These are the same suspects who attempted to steal a motorbike a few days before this.

Pinetree Crescent – Wednesday, at about 05:17
Camera footage shows two men on a motorbike attempting to steal a resident’s motorbike. In the attempt, they broke the steering column lock. However, as the bike was chained up, they were unsuccessful. The suspects broke open the carrier case on the back and stole some gloves and sunglasses.

A van was broken into and a bag of plumbing tools stolen.

Corner Bellair and Wexford Roads – Monday, at about 15:40
A resident noticed a suspicious person entering a garage at a block of flats across the road from her home. The man proceeded to take things out of the garage and load his shopping trolley which stood on the corner of Bellair & Wexford Roads. She took a photo and reported the sighting on the Whatsapp group. The man walked up Bellair Road towards Derry Street. The resident followed and caught up with him outside the Sidewalk Cafe where she asked him what he was doing going in and out the the garage. In the meantime, the incident was put out on the radio network and DPV members and ADT arrived on the scene. The suspect and his trolley were loaded onto the back of the ADT bakkie and taken back to the block of flats where it was discovered that the contents of the garage belonged to a local builder. When SAPS arrived, the builder opened a case of theft. The suspect was arrested.

Camera footage showed a hooded man with backpack and torch checking out several cars before smashing driver’s window of one vehicle. Suspect ran off when the alarm sounded.
