Street robbery - without a dangerous weapon

St James Street - Tuesday, at 10:25
Three young men held a couple up outside their apartment block shortly after parking their vehicle and returning home. Two of the men threatened them with fake guns and grabbed their car and house keys. The residents chased them down the road and they dropped the car keys. A white van was waiting for them in Davenport Road and they jumped in and left.

Aandbloem Street - Monday, at 01:19
A white Audi Q5 was stolen. The tracker device was activated and four occupants were arrested.

The rear window of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a property, behind locked gates, was smashed. Several items were taken from the vehicle.

A man was spotted breaking into a vehicle. He ran away down Derry Street.

Bradwell Road – Friday, at 02:00
A Toyoto Yaris was broken into. A resident reported the incident to Watchcom who alerted SAPS, CBAR and ADT who all responded. The suspect, who was on foot, was found in Yeoville Road, and arrested.

Attempted street robbery - with dangerous weapon

Anenome Avenue – Tuesday, early hours of morning
Resident came out of his house to fetch his partner and was robbed by three men with screwdrivers. One suspect was wearing a red bomber jacket. A wallet and cell phone were stolen.

Clovelly Avenue - Sunday, at 10:00
Rear window of Land Rover (parked on pavement opposite church) was forced open, damaging window mechanism. Contents of car worked through and some items strewn around but nothing stolen.

Attempted Street Robbery - ARREST

Aandbloem Street - Friday, at 10:35
A man grabbed a bag from a woman, but she pushed him away and grabbed it back. He was seen carrying a green garbage bag over shoulder in Aandbloem, near Van Ryneveld while members were keeping an eye on him. SAPS apprehended the man in Upper Mill Street.

A man entered the premises by climbing over the wall, using his jacket to get over the electric fence, and then proceeded to steal the outdoor umbrella.

Someone attempted to steal back tyre/spare wheel off Daihatsu Terios parked on Escombe during the night. Probably disturbed as only two wheel nuts loosened.

Resident heard car alarm going off and saw man wearing grey with black backbag checking out cars after breaking into a vehicle on corner of St James and Escombe streets. Resident ran outside and shouted at the man who ran off in the direction of Herzlia school.

A man, dressed in dark clothes, broke into a vehicle parked on the corner of Upper Mill Street and Bedford Street.

A girl’s bicycle was taken from a garage. Residents were woken at 04:00 by SAPS to alert them that their garage door was open. It was the only item stolen.

Residents woke up because someone was shining a light into their bedroom. They suspect someone had climbed up a section of the wall, and from there tried to check the property for possible entry points. Luckily they woke up from the flash light and pressed the emergency alarm button, which must have scared off the intruder.

Upper Buitenkant - Sunday, between 18:00 and 20:30
Suspects broke into a granny flat by breaking the burglar-bars away from a window facing towards a closed in courtyard. A camera, laptop, hand bag and car keys were stolen.

Residents arrived back from evening church and were informed that their guest’s, who were staying in their granny flat, car was stolen from the property.
Silver Toyota Etios - HNT 172 … The vehicle was recovered 10 hours later and a suspect was arrested.

Car parked on street. Car’s alarm triggered about 2am. Resident checked and could not see any person/s. Thought it was the wind that triggered the alarm. Whole back window found smashed in the morning. Two young male suspects were involved.

The owner heard the front gate open and immediately knew someone was on their property. This was during load shedding and it was very dark outside. The scooter was parked on the front porch. They were screaming behind their closed front door for help and that they will call the police. They shouted back that they would shoot us if we attempted to come outside. We heard them drive away with the scooter. SAPS arrived within 25 minutes.

Street Robbery - with a weapon

Bradwell Road - Sunday, at 20:30
A woman was robbed of her cell phone and the suspect stabbed her in her arm. He ran off and the incident was reported to SAPS immediately as the woman’s screams were heard from afar. The cell phone pinged in Upper Kloof Street and DPV members, joined by off duty Law Enforcement Auxiliary officers, spent more than 2 hours combing the area on lower Kloof and Upper Kloof as well as the quarries below Kloofnek Road to search for the suspect. They could unfortunately not find him. The victim suffered a deep stab wound and had to be admitted to hospital.

A house was broken into during load shedding while it was very windy. Several external alarms were triggered along the mountain.

Windburg Avenue - Wednesday, at 03:30
Second break-in in 4 weeks. Suspects took two laptops that were replaced from the previous break-in. Suspects seems to have crawled through a bathroom window gap of only about 10 cm. They left a red Nike sweater behind.
