ARREST
Whilst on a routine patrol two regular DPVwatch patrollers spotted an old Maroon Toyota Corolla with 3 black male occupants at around 20:30. Car registration is CA 345 852. They discreetly followed the vehicle as it slowly drove through the area doing a number of loops around Chelmsford, Belladonna and St James. They stopped on the corner of Davenport & St James and reversed onto the pavement parking area. Two men got out of the car and went and ‘inspected’ an old white BMW that was parked on the side. They got back into the Toyota and slowly made their way down Davenport. By means of the radio network the patrollers were able to alert other members, SAPS and City Bowl Armed Response.
The vehicle was pulled over behind the Gardens Centre. The vehicle was searched and a sledge hammer and a tool used to force a cars ignition were found. The men were arrested and taken to SAPS Central and the car was also booked in. A photo of the tool is attached.
This arrest was as a direct result of the time given by patrollers and the radio network. Our thanks to the 5 radio holders who came to the assistance of the patrollers when they called in this suspicious vehicle. It shows the power of team work.
SAPS are busy trying to link these men to other incidents in our area.
These men have since been linked to many serious crimes in the CBD and as far away as Kirstenhof. We are awaiting final feedback from SAPS as to exactly how many crimes these men have been charged with!
They certainly chose the wrong neighbourhood to come to!
