With the school holidays upon us, many residences will be empty as people go travelling. The last two holidays have seen a spike in house break-ins, which are early indications that house break-in crews are starting to scout out suburbs in the City Bowl again.
Tips for going away:
- Ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property, maybe even give them a key to check your property if your alarm goes off.
- Check for any markers (papers stuck into gates is most common).
- Ensure your alarm is still armed with your monitoring company if you have one. If you do hear alarms from properties that are empty, please report to Watchcom (0214224222) or your local neighbourhood watch.
Last holiday, we had 4 crews arrested after the fact. Together, we can try and get this to zero successful house break-ins this holiday.
