DPV WATCH Patrols
DPVwatch is a voluntary community organisation. The success of DPVwatch lies in the people who live and work in this community. Sign up for a patrol and help us make our streets safer for all of us.
The success of DPVwatch lies with each and every member. Every member can act as ‘eyes and ears’ on our streets. Simply by being visible, present and alert, we can disrupt the opportunity for criminal activities.
Every member has access to our Zone WhatsApp groups where suspicious behaviour can be reported. It is important that members reporting suspicious activity, are accurate and detailed in the description of the suspicious person or vehicle. Members should say WHY the behaviour is suspicious and give an accurate description of the person or vehicle. See the infographics below.
By doing active patrols, DPVwatch is visible on the streets and opportunistic criminals soon become aware that this neighbourhood is active and engaged in community and community safety.
Members can either do ad hoc patrols on foot or in a car (e.g. walking to the SPAR or taking your kids to school). Our Patrol team organises more formalised patrols: these usually take place in the evening or early morning and members are partnered with more experienced patrollers with DPVwatch radios. All patrollers are volunteers. The more people volunteering for patrols, the better coverage we have of our neighbourhood. Many hands make light work!
