The second DPVwatch fundraising event for 2025 was hosted at Carlyle’s on Wednesday 18 June. Over 100 quizzers competed for amazing prizes that were sponsored by Devil’s Peak Lager, the Derry Street KwikSpar, Caroline Fine Flowers at the V&A Waterfront and by the quiz master, Steve Sherman.
Carlyle’s had a popular meal deal on offer – a beef or chicken burger – and a Devil’s Peak lager. Great food at good prices.
Competition was fierce throughout the quiz and the top places changed frequently. Let’s Get Quizzical ended in first place, with Swordfishtrombone in second place, and Slopeople in the third spot.
Steve Sherman, quiz master extraordinaire (livingmaths.com), offered one lucky draw team, The Onion Rings, the opportunity to listen to Susan Kilrain, a NASA astronaut, on the 8th of September.
DPVwatch is so grateful to the hosts, Carlyle’s as well as to Steve Sherman for giving of his time and expertise without charge, to the sponsors for the prizes, and, to our wonderful community members who supported us so eagerly.
Over R5000 was raised. But, more importantly, the quiz was an opportunity for the community to get together to support DPVwatch and to reconnect with their neighbours.
