Patrols

No, but it is preferable that someone in the patrol group has a radio. The radio allows you to communicate immediately with SAPS, ADT and CBAR as well as other DPV Watch radio holders

You can patrol at any time that suits you. We need people out on our streets throughout the day and during the night. You decide when and how often you would like to patrol.

Membership

Be the change you want to see: by becoming a member of DPVwatch, you empower yourself to be part of a volunteer community organisation that works together with SAPS and security service providers in disrupting the opportunity for criminal activity.

DPVwatch is a voluntary community organisation. The more involved you are, the more effective DPVwatch is.

The main way you can get involved is by signing up and doing regular patrols. You can also donate financially or contribute in kind if you have any special skills e.g. events organising or admin assistance.

Reporting Crime

SAPS delegates resources to areas most impacted by crime. If incidents are not reported, SAPS do not see us as a priority area.

By logging your detailed incident report with DPVwatch:

  1. It gives us good data about the criminal activities that happen in our area,
  2. our patrollers can focus their efforts in those areas that are being targeted by criminals and we have the opportunity to disrupt the opportunity for criminal activity, and
  3. it allows us to represent DPV crime stats at the monthly SAPS and CPF meetings.
