A student was pick-pocketed on the pavement and his cell phone was taken. The suspect then also tried to grab the bag and injured the victim on his arm with a screwdriver when he struggled for it. Fortunately residents in the street could assist him and take him home after SAPS was called to the scene. The suspect fled down Barnham Avenue across Philip Kgosana. CCTV footage is available of the suspect in the area a while before the robbery.
Reported to SAPS.
