Theft out of motor vehicle

A resident heard strange noises coming from the street and upon looking out, noticed a person doing something to the latches of his locked bakkie canopy flap. The suspect took something and ran off. He was chased by car but disappeared. SAPS was called on the radio and given a description. The suspect was picked up in Upper Mill Street. Rope was taken as well as a screwdriver.
Reported to SAPS.
