Theft from property - ARREST

Bedford Road - Thursday at 13:48
A resident of Bedford Mews, was at home and heard a sound of a security gate rattling on Bedford Street. The resident investigated and saw a black male climbing over the gate into a property. He immediately called a friend who is a DPVwatch member who alerted the radio network. 5 DPV watch members responded immediately and flooded the area, manning key points around Chelsea Ave, Mill Street, Bedford Street and Upper Maynard. The suspect was then spotted on the property at Bedford Street but he ran from the back of the property. He was then seen climbing the wall into the Millborough Court gardens. The DPV member manning Chelsea Avenue saw a man matching that description walking across the Good Hope Seminary School fields towards the gate. Two DPV responders then moved around to the school’s main gate, while another followed across the field. The suspect jumped the wall at the main gate, and was immediately apprehended by the two members waiting on Vredehoek Avenue.
SAPS arrived and searched the man who was found in possession of 6 stolen watches. Another watch was discovered on the property in Bedford Road.
Great work!!!
