Attempted Theft out of Motor Vehicle - ARREST

Pypies: 08h15 - The residents’ driveway gate was opened at 8:15am so that the vehicles could be taken out. The residents went back into the house to say goodbye to the family, and during this time, the suspect came into the driveway and smashed the passenger window of the vehicle with a metal water meter cover. The residents heard several hard bangs before they heard the glass smashing. A bravo male was seen in the vehicle going through everything to see what he could steal, so the residents pushed the panic button which sent the suspect running into the street. The resident grabbed his radio and called for RC, who came to the scene very quickly, as well as members from DPV watch. The suspect was found in Roeland Street, casually walking in a downhill direction, and he was followed and captured by two SAPS vehicles, CBAR and 3 DPV watch vehicles who had surrounded him by the time he got to Oester Street, less than a KM from the scene of the crime. The suspect was arrested, case number 363/7/2010.
